What do you do when you're not at CFA?

I am a student at GVSU!

What led you to Crossfit and CFA specifically?

I just wanted a place to work out that was close to where I went to school and heard of CrossFit before. So I looked up CrossFit gyms and saw how close CFA was to GVSU tried it out and loved it!! :)

When did you realize that CrossFit is right for you?

I think after I did my first official workout at CFA! It was a lot of running which is hard for me lol but I was immediately welcomed in by everyone at CFA and felt so encouraged by everyone that I knew CrossFit and CFA was the right fit for me!

What movement do you despise over everything and why?

Box Jumps. When you scrape your shins on the box twice you start to hate and become afraid of the movement LOL.

What has been your all-time favorite moment at CFA?

There’s so many! I loved doing the CrossFit open this year. I had so much fun participating with all my friends at CFA. I loved going into every Friday Night lights class and completing the difficult workouts alongside my friends and witnessing the heightened  fun, encouraging and exciting atmosphere of the CrossFit open.

What motivates you during a tough workout?

Everyone at CFA! I have found so many friends at CFA who continue to push me during workouts and encourage me to do my best every WOD. Also every single coach at CFA are awesome guides and encouragers for me to get the best workout everyday! I also am motivated during a tough workout because I know I can work on the newest puzzle at CFA after I complete the workout lol.

If you could write your own workout for a day, what would it be?

Anything that is a good heavy lifting workout would be what I would write!!

What are your goals going forward and what do you think will help you achieve them?

Improving my cardio and being able to do an unassisted pull-up. I think consistency at CrossFit and cardio workouts as well as better eating and sleep patterns can help all around and doing the pull-up program! :)

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness or just day to day life since starting CrossFit?

I have noticed how much stronger physically and mentally I have gotten since I started about a year and a half ago. I have been able to lift heavier and have seen a big improvement in my cardio. I also realized CFA has improved my mental health immensely. I look forward to coming into CFA everyday to see my friends, do a work out that is hard (but we all love it) and walk out feeling better than I did when I first walked in!

What would you recommend to someone who is just starting out with CrossFit?

Come to CFA and give one workout a try! It may feel like the hardest workout you have ever done but everyone at CFA is so encouraging and welcoming. They  will push you to be the best version of yourself no matter your fitness level!

If you could have one skill or characteristic of another member at CFA what and from whom would it be? Or which other CFA member are you the most motivated by?

I would want the positive mindset of Kaylee when it comes to any workout. Whenever I see a workout that looks challenging I may look at it in defeat but Kaylee always looks at it and says hey it could be double the amount of reps or half the amount of rest which as funny as it sounds is something I wish I could have as a mindset. Also,

Kaylee, Mary Jo, and Gillian motivate and push me to do my best in every workout everyday!

Coach's comment:

Since Molly started with us in the Fall of 2021 she has been a staple in our classes. Her consistency and discipline for getting to the gym is something that she should be super proud of. She has made huge strides in increasing her strength numbers and pushes hard in the endurance wods. Keep up the awesome work, Molly!
