What was your athletic background, if any?

12 years of Tae Kwon Do

What do you do when you're not at CFA?

Talk about CrossFit to everyone that I meet. Pretty sure my Facebook friends are sick of my CF posts!

When did you realize that CrossFit is right for you?

I always knew I needed to do something that helped with my cardio, strength and lack of energy. I just woke up one morning last October and decided that I was joining CFA.

Do you remember your first WOD?

October 2015. It was bring a friend day. I came with Brookelyn. I thought I was going to puke my guts out. It took me 2 years to come back….

What is your favorite or least favorite WOD/movement?

Favorite - anything with barbells (except snatch). Least - burpees

What is the one thing you have done at CFA that you never thought you would do?

I have multiple things to list. But just completing Murph has to be my biggest. I was able to get a 64:28 time!

What motivates you during a tough workout?

To not be out of shape anymore. And some Heavy Metal / Hard Rock music doesn’t hurt either...

What's are your favorite things about CrossFit?

Working out with my wife and youngest daughter, the CFA Community, challenging workouts and those amazing CFA coaches!

What are your short term and long term goals?

Short term - 3 strict pull-ups, Long term - continue with my CrossFit journey until I can’t do it anymore.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CrossFit (before/after)?

I’m still improving on everything, but I have gained strength and lost some inches around my waist. My endurance is even better. I have more energy and watch less tv!

Do you have any advice for people just getting started at CFA?

You will be sore for a few weeks, work through the soreness and stick with it. Be realistic with your goals...Rome wasn’t built in a day. Let Kate or Josh know what you are struggling with or what you are getting better at. They really are there to help you and make you better. Take a rest day if needed, but try to stay consistent and have a routine. DO NOT compare yourself to anyone else, it is the biggest disservice you can do to yourself. Bootcamp classes can be more of a challenge than the normal class, do not underestimate them!

Most important, do this for YOU and have fun doing it!!

Coach's comment:

Chris is one of those people who took some time to realize that CrossFit was right for him. After a tough bring a friend workout it took him a (long) while to come back but once it did it was full steam ahead. Chris is one of those people who is willing to give it his all each and every workout which is awesome to see! He is a regular at our early morning bootcamp class and holds it down for all the men who are unsure about a bootcamp class. Since starting in October he has already came a very long way; stronger, faster and about 5000x better at burpees. He also recently finished Murph in a great time and did all 5 CrossFit Open workouts this year. His progress and hard work has not gone unnoticed and we are excited to see him continue to improve into the future!
