What do you do when you're not at CFA?

I like to spend time with my family, husband Chad and teenagers, Grace and Andrew.  I enjoy running, swimming, and healthy cooking.  I also love being a teacher to my wonderful kindergarteners!

What led you to Crossfit and CFA specifically?

I started watching the CrossFit Documentaries while I was running on my treadmill during the COVID shutdown.  I was really missing working out in a community and so I looked up my local CrossFit.

When did you realize that CrossFit is right for you?

When I realized that I had to join Facebook to be a part of the CFA group.  And joined Facebook.  Ack!

Do you remember your first WOD?

My first WOD had wallballs.  It wasn’t very many, like 50, but I didn’t think I could do it. The ball felt so heavy and my arms burned!  I really like the way CrossFit challenges you and what you think you are capable of.

What movement do you despise over everything and why?

Right now I am despising Double Unders because I can’t do them very well…yet.  Stay tuned.


What has been your all-time favorite moment at CFA?

I am not sure if I could pick one…I like the power in lifts like snatches and thrusters, the athleticism in things like Toes to Bar, the simplicity of a farmer’s carry, and I also like the monotony of running and box jumps.

What motivates you during a tough workout?

 I find strength looking around the gym and seeing other people working hard too.  Also, the rockin’ music helps!

If you could write your own workout for a day, what would it be?

I think it was already written for me…”Kelly” - 5 Rounds for Time - 400m run, 30 wallballs, 30 box jumps. ❤️


What are your goals going forward and what do you think will help you achieve them?

I want to get better at gymnastic movements, flexibility, and of course, strength.  I will just keep showing up…


What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness or just day to day life since starting CrossFit (before/after?)

I have gotten stronger in so many ways. I helped move a couch to our basement, barely breaking a sweat.  I couldn’t have done that a year ago.  I really also enjoy the increased appetite!


What would you recommend to someone who is just starting out with CrossFit?

I feel like I am still learning, so I am not sure I have all that much to say…probably don’t be afraid to try something new.  CFA coaches will be there to guide you!


If you could have one skill or characteristic of another member at CFA what and from whom would it be? Or which other CFA member are you the most motivated by? 
I really admire all of the CFA veterans…I still stare at the board, clueless, trying to figure out how to approach the workout.  Also, thanks for letting me watch you do a rep of whatever lift we are doing because I forget which ones they are all the time!  Power…snatch…squat…press??

If you have met Kelly then you already know she is awesome!! Friendly, hard-working, consistent & super fit. When she is not teaching kindergarten you can find her working out with her son Andrew and running faster than the wind. Since getting started with us not only has she gotten stronger but she has also gotten better at everything else. Even her toes to bar have started to look great. We are so glad she decided to join us at CFA earlier this year. Keep up the hard work Kelly!
